In his last interview before becoming a minister for the new government, Issawi Frej declared that: "The first thing I would do a a minister – Visit Abu Mazen". Frej indeed kept that promise when he, alongside leader of Meretz, Nitzan Horowitz, and member of the Kneset for the party, Michal Rozin went to Ramallah to visit Abu Mazen.
