Snakes & Ladders on the Way Home offers the rare account of a personal journey made in an attempt to put together the shattered pieces of a broken life.
At the age of 15, Dana Berenzon was gang-raped by a group of boys at a party. Her story was never made known to the public. Dana did not press charges against her attackers. They live among us, undisturbed. She has come across them since, more than once. Dana even chose to meet one of her attackers, years after the rape, when he revealed a personal secret in a conversation she has never forgotten.
Seventeen years after the rape, Dana decided to publish her personal diary spanning twenty years. It contains a stirring collection of letters that she wrote to herself, to her relatives, to her rapists, and also to Raphael, her co-active coach.
This candid and honest book traces Dana’s journey since that fateful day when her life was shattered: through the educational system that knew what happened and chose to betray her; her choice to meet one of the rapists many years later and her discovery of his amazing secret; her connection to the mini-zoo that became her only home; and her experience of personal coaching that enabled her to piece back together the shattered puzzle of her soul.
Dana lectures and leads workshops all over the world spreading the message of forgiveness, compassion and female empowerment.
