This album contains the photographic story of a forest and a library of leaves and stories from nineteen countries. The forest in the library of leaves is a metaphor for the global forest. Looking carefully at the leaves serves in itself as an act of preservation and enables change of perception.
Author Shai Zakai is an Israeli artist par excellence whose creativity is devoted to wrestling with the history of the relationship between nature and civilization, a relationship that has developed during the last few decades into a worldwide l discourse about what is referred to as the “ecological holocaust” now confronting human civilization.
Shai Zakai a photographer, an ecological artist and a green activist, has displayed more than sixty exhibitions in museums and galleries in Israel and throughout the world. Her works are to be found in both private and museum collections. She is guest lecturer and curator as well as a consultant for ecological campaigns and organizations for the development of creative environmental leadership.
